Appalachian Voices and Visions
Appalachia refers to a cultural and physical region that traverses the Eastern United States, from New York all the way to Alabama and Georgia. While it is endowed with a rich, natural landscape and is shrouded in frontier folklore, Appalachia has long struggled economically. Large-scale logging and mining strip the mountains of their splendor and resources and divide communities. Here, artists and activists join forces to draw attention to these close-to-home issues and their impacts.
